Stage 2
Stage 1
This rocket adopts two aerospike engines during the ascending phasem, and a pair of conventional vacuum engines during the orbit transfers.
Aerospike engines has exceptional fuel efficiencies compared to other conventional nozzle shaped boosters, but with the down side of generating too much heat.
A complex heat-exchanging system was used at the core of the boosters (stage 1&2). Such cooling mechanism and the need for maximum thrust from both engines at once caused the weird âTâ shape arrangement of the boosters.
