Fade is a genetic, non-communicable disease that occurs in all intelligent animal species.

In its early stages, Fade first immobilizes the patient, then degenerates the neurons inside their brain. Later, it shuts down their organs one by one, as if their life is fading away from the patient’s body, hence the name “Fade”.

Fade is not infectious. The cause and origin of Fade is a mystery, but the only clue animals have is that Fade only occurs in intelligent species, not in those considered "lesser" evolved ones, such as most marine life.

Among marine life, whales are the most special creatures because they are the only mammals that are not susceptible to this disease. They are also the hardest subject to research due to the complexity of their genetic code compared to smaller fish.
